“A man walks into a party and… networks with new people without getting his phone out even once. As he leaves at the end of the night, he tells his smart glasses to add the people he just met that evening on LinkedIn with a note about how they could collaborate.”

The fuck? This sounds nightmarish?

We’ve got the inside story of how Trump’s displeasure with seeing homeless people in D.C. became the first domino in a series of actions that culminated in the administration’s stunning decision to weaken the rights of millions of disabled Americans to live in their homes and communities.
How Trump’s homelessness crackdown became a sweeping retreat from disability rights
After issuing a memo making it easier to institutionalize homeless people, the Justice Department began abandoning cases protecting disabled people’s right to live in the community.

Lucan Way and I have been writing about competitive authoritarianism for more than 25 years. We never thought we'd write this piece.

Competitive Authoritarianism in America | Journal of Democracy
The United States has slid into competitive authoritarianism. The slide has been modest and remains reversible—but it is real. Even after Donald Trump, American democracy will remain fragile.

More confirmation that the Trump Administration is staying underground with its anti-abortion plans until after the midterms.

The 2020 election has been relentlessly studied by our most experienced experts and by our most craven partisan hacks for 6y now, and every examination has wound up demonstrating the integrity of Biden’s victory in that election and the malignity of Trump’s obsession with undermining it.
An analysis of voting equipment in Puerto Rico grew into a US federal effort spanning multiple agencies to find proof voting machines were manipulated to flip votes in the 2020 election, Reuters found. The probe ultimately found found no evidence votes were manipulated reut.rs/4hHBkcA

With this disbursement, we are helping safeguard Ukraine’s financial stability today.

We’re also building the foundations for its recovery tomorrow.

Because Europe stands by Ukraine’s side.

And will do so for as long as it takes.

Listening to Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstreit wave away the sexual assault charges against DeShaun Watson — even saying “winning is the best deodorant” — was pretty jarring, especially this week.
'TNF' looks at Deshaun Watson's season 🏈 📺

Al Michaels: "If you follow football, you know the story ... we don't have to go through the whole Deshaun Watson thing."

Kirk Herbstreit: "When you convert on 3rd downs, you hit passes, you lead this team to victories, those boos turn into cheers."

Tiramisini are #RecipeOfTheDay! I’m not normally a fan of the smaller portion, but there’s not that often a call for a full-size Tiramisù, and these always hit the spot.

Was I looking in the Library of Congress archive for a 1936 photo of a cat dressed as a Valkyrie from a Wagner opera? Nope. Am I glad I found it? Definitely.

Important piece of marine science nuance: when a shark attacks a human, it's almost always an unintentional encounter. Sharks do not think about you, at all.

When a whale strikes a ship, it is almost always intentional. They know us. They understand us. And they remember what we did.

one out of two sorority sisters in cornell has been a victim of unwanted sexual contact.

1793 women are enrolled in sororities. 52% of them have been sexually harmed, that’s around 600 women a year. at cornell, that’s not even a year, it’s two semesters, ~16 weeks each.

300 women a semester.
