What’s currently happening with cuts to benefits and maybe pensions. If you don’t think this happens, then you’d have to say there are notable overlaps with the wars, austerity and the Big Society and Boris Johnson’s oven-ready Brexit deal.
It means “quietly cajoling key officials and briefing the press, ensuring everyone knows they should repeat the same messages, to snowplough the public with all-channels unanimity and inevitability”. The creation of consensus where none exists; an astroturfed democracy, call it what you will.
