And if someone isn’t my enemy (not abusive, not a reactionary) but has done things in relationship with me that hurt me and refuse to account for that in a way I need for closeness? I take them at their word, too. I figure out what I need and I either change the relationship or I leave it.

Relatively very few human beings to ever live have had a visible public platform. It's not a human right. What do these people even want? Ex-fans to swallow the bile and watch anyway whilst knowing? What should Nebula do? Employ him and put a CW on screen before he appears so we can look away?

weirdly rare take: even if you can "rehabilitate" a rapist, I don't think they deserve a platform? their survivors deserve to live in a world where they aren't at risk of ever seeing them again and that includes by chance on TV, the YouTube homepage, their byline in the paper, the spine of a book.

It's a valid point but also I feel like the last 10 years was a solid tsunami of liberals constantly demanding we forgive and forget nazis.

And we're going on over 40 years of liberals and leftists being furious about antifa ("um actually you're The Real Fascists for being mean") exposing nazis.
This is the thing. Anarchist resistance to rapists is based on anarchist resistance to fascists. Would you get in the mentions of an antifascist account revealing someone was a Nazi and go “SO YOU DONT BELIEVE PEOPLE CAN CHANGE AND BE FORGIVEN SPECIAL BOYS?!” No not these fucking people
If I’m against centering “accountability” and the “restoration” of abusers and rapists, what is it I think should be done about them?? Well, I lay exactly that out in this piece here. Use the tactics of anti-fascism! butchanarchy.medium.com/tactics-for-...

This happened in the twin cities in 2008. SWAT teams raided the homes of anarchists on Friday before the RNC, held people without charges over the weekend and labor day, then for the two "working days" they're allowed.... then let one go on Thurs and immediately re-arrested her outside the building.
ICE’s new tactic, witnessed repeatedly at the federal building in MN: when a detained immigrant makes a successful habeas petition, release the immigrant for a few steps outside the building… then tackle and re-arrest them, and claim the habeas petition has been honored and nullified

At the time I remember laughing at my own naive failure to see and predict the loophole that they can just perpetually re-arrest you without charges.

Anyway, no one involved 18 years ago was arrested, prosecuted or disbarred. That's not how any of this works.

Not to repeat the obvious, but this is literally lawless behavior that makes a mockery of the Constitution and judicial system, should result in contempt prosecution for anyone involved, and disbarment of any lawyers

The old EU really focused on "these are all Imperial pilots who defected" -- which is fine enough for a few folks like Biggs etc -- but we can do better. In the same way that Andor's prison jumpsuit was orange, these workers' had orange jumpsuits for space construction work and still use them.

The network of evidence that informs the scientific picture is vast and strong. We're not shallow bare empiricists who throw out the speed of light upon a single experimental neutrino detection.

A floating jesus on a cloud would overwhelmingly suggest a trick, a symbol, a communicative choice.

I was a nuclear-grade free speech warrior back in 2000 and I was perplexed as hell by folks thinking free speech meant an entitlement to being hosted and legitimized by anyone on their own blog. Moderated comments sections aren't censorship, they're a matter of basic autonomy.

I would characterize my position as still free speech absolutism (abolish intellectual property, legalize libel, and see my recent essay on what anarchists aren't allowed to say) but I wouldn't usually self describe as a "free speech warrior" as that's more of a social/cultural category.

It's popular on here and sneerclub to mock the rationalists for being rogue autodidacts who aren't sufficiently deferential and servile to the subculture called academia, but imo, that's the opposite of their failure mode: they're too fucking compliant unoriginal undriven chumps.

"Violence" is a contested term and concept. Liberalism says that calling the police or voting for laws isn't violence, when they obviously are, but then burning draft cards is violence against property. The question is not what constitutes violence, but what is justified.

Probably the most basic unobjectionable fact in moral philosophy is that "billions of animals suffer hell on earth."

I don't care if you still eat animal products or whatever, shit's hard, you've got some excuse, but like something REALLY has to go wrong for someone to dispute that line.

This is why the concept and category of the "human" is not our fucking ally. Will never be our fucking ally.

When you fetishize the "human" as response to AI, you simply empower fascists to champion human-nationalism until boring plumbline veganism is "anti-human," to say nothing of trans folks.

Tenderlibs and some bolsheviks are doing "oppressed people get to snitch" discourse on twitter, and it's truly unhinged.

If a trans woman snitches on other trans women and they all end up in jail is it "pro rape" to classify her a snitch?

I hate that I predicted all this, but it was an easy call.

I am genuinely so fucking haunted at the way Eric has been treated over the last three years since he got out. First there was the "he was colonizing the supermax" discourse. Then campists slandered him for standing with Casey Goonan. Now there's casual driveby shit like this from snitch apologists.
apparently, Eric King is an “anarcho-rapist“ (a term i haven’t heard before) & i’m so tired.

Destroy the AI companies, hound the executives, demolish the flock cameras, etc etc etc, of course. But outlawing invention itself? Imprisoning people for acts of inquiry and creativity? Obliges an infinitely powerful state.
