Trump on Canada/EU: I think it's laughable. Canada has been a terrible trade partner.

If they do that, if I think it's at all a hostile act, I will put very serious tariffs or stop trading with Europe on many things.

So basically Trump’s new rap is that prices are high now and they are likely to get even higher between now and the midterms, but if you vote for them prices will immediately drop like magic after the election and everything will be pretty much free and we will live happily ever after.

Lots of folks are comparing McConnell’s vote today to Feinstein’s finals days in the senate. The main difference is that Feinstein was co-sponsoring legislation to expand voting rights, while McConnell voted to cut SNAP and end environmental protections.

In the 1970s and 80s it was standard for conservative Republicans to defend South African apartheid up until the tide had fully turned against it in the 1990s. We might think of the "anti-apartheid GOP" as a short interregnum, after which the GOP has now returned to its pro-apartheid roots.
