It is Terry Fox Day, the run/walk in his name to raise money for cancer research. I learn it is now in 30 countries. That gallant 18 year old who did his own run in 1980, before his cancer stopped him, started something global. He tops most polls I’ve ever seen here for most-admired Canadian.

Tom and I were both bitten by the same UK publisher’s collapse. It is maddening to have all the brain cycles you want to use for creating things taken up by paperwork and bureaucracy.
I felt furious at the money and hard work that had been taken from me. But I also felt furious at the fact that, by saddling me with so much admin - online and not online - to do in order to recover and survive, Unbound had also robbed me of what I felt would have been a rich creative period.

and then they put me on a pickup truck and i gave a speech like you wouldnt believe and randy quaid was there and we had all the pilots and flew up and it was so amazing. i told randy, “randy, fly your plane when the thing opens” and he did and many people say i saved us from the aliens that day

Canadian, here. I recognize that it will be difficult for Bessent to achieve completely, but if his goal is to make sure no Canadian tourists visit the US and no Canadians buy anything from the US that they don’t have to buy from it for generations to come, he’s going about it the right way.
