The Port Burwell Historical Society in Ontario says engineers have completed their study of the deteriorated Port Burwell Lighthouse and restoration work can begin in the spring. The Society has $455,000 in hand to begin the work but will need another million. lfpress.com/news/local-n...

Lighthouse of the day: The very popular 1846 Covesea Skerries Lighthouse in Moray, Scotland. When the lighthouse was deactivated in 2012 the community purchased it and has developed it with a museum, visitor center, and keeper's cottages open for overnight stays. www.ibiblio.org/lighthouse/s...

Meet Bock’s pygmy octopus! Growing up to 0.98 in (2.5 cm) long, excluding tentacles, this tiny species can be found near coral reefs in parts of the Central Pacific. It is primarily active at night, using camouflage to avoid predators.
