If we had a federal government that wasn't firmly up the ass of Big AI, they'd make it a crime for an AI to put people in mortal danger by sending them into wilderness areas with fictional instructions.

If a human kept doing this, they'd probably go to jail, even under existing laws.

Unless you're one of about 2000 people in BC that have wealth levels above $50 million (note: you are not), you will not be affected by the BC Greens wealth tax and it would raise $22 billion in the first year. Seems like a good deal to me (also not one of those 2000 people).

Guess I need to update this post from a couple of weeks ago. Is that $70 billion in subsidies? (30 ongoing + 40 for pipeline)

So the entire value of o&g to the Canadian economy is given straight back to big oil?

Absolutely corrupt behaviour & a climate crime.

Carney, the economic genius, is pumping our public money into a losing bet.
"The government’s huge subsidization of this project lays bare a reality unfolding across the world economy: Fossil fuels aren’t just losing to clean energy. They’ve lost. In fact, the difference is now a trillion-dollar one," writes Clean Energy Canada's Rachel Doran. #cdnpoli
Is it really a good idea for the government to subsidize a pipeline?

This pipeline is the first project designated as in the national interest, but I would not say a pipeline is my interest, and I think a lot of people would say it’s not in their interest either. So what does that say about who belongs to the nation Carney is “building”?
“Alberta government and the federally owned Trans Mountain Corporation would each own 45% of the pipeline, with … Pembina Pipeline Corporation owning a 10% stake through the construction phase.”

Mark Carney said a new pipeline had to be privately financed, but now taxpayers are on the hook again.
