So, Tories would cancel Erasmus and youth mobility, scrap the SPS deal that reduces red tape, lowers costs and eases backlogs for goods trade and renege on our new energy, defence and security arrangements…

Ridiculous threat, ridiculous party, ridiculous people…

It is deeply irresponsible for any politician, let alone a senior Conservative, to peddle the same far-right nonsense about Luton that we see from the likes of Yaxley Lennon and Reform.

The Conservative Party is “authoritarian” and attacking the “free press” by banning journalists from its conference when Kemi Badenoch called Reform precisely that for doing the same.

The 'Kemi Badenoch is a good leader, held back by the Conservative brand' is a take that immediately falls apart when you ask 'what was the Conservative party polling in September 2024, and what is it polling in September 2026?'
The Conservatives are still polling around ~20% on average. These are not good numbers. There’s also no evidence that Badenoch is holding up the Conservative numbers. They may simply be unrelated - which is different.

From Scotland to Northumberland, Blackpool to Leicestershire, Reform contested six by-elections yesterday.
They lost all six.
Six contests. Six defeats.
Reform are not inevitable. Their bubble has burst😉

The ability to pour hundreds of millions of pounds into a loss-making TV channel, bent on wrenching British politics sharply to the right, is yet another of the ways in which extreme wealth is trying to remake UK democracy.

It needs to be part of any serious conversation about political funding.
New GB News accounts are out. Here are their losses to date. Or "spent political donations" if you prefer

Someone should note to Suella that if this idea of Englishness wins (along with all the other Hard Right ideas that come with it), then either...

a) the mob she has enabled will come for her – 'not one of us'.
b) the mob will celebrate her as their greatest useful idiot.

What a position.

More evidence that media are not “just reporting the news” but are actively shaping it. With significant political consequences.

President Macron, "Brexit has cost the UK 8% of GDP.. Brexit is the biggest lie of the last 30 years"

My view: Brexit was sold as a route to greater prosperity: less bureaucracy, more money, new trade opportunities

Instead, Britain put new barriers between itself and its largest trading market.
