This part. Black people need to understandthat these people want a white man. They did this shit to Crockett. Many white progressives and liberals are splitting the party for whiteness.
IMO that DNC autopsy is going to expose the Democratic Party's unwillingness to support Kamala Harris in 2024 because of her race and gender and the DNC refused to make GOTV investments in Black/Brown areas, while spending all the $$$ on consultants. That's why they want it buried. JMO.

Man all that “shoot your local pedophile” shit doesn’t seem to apply to Michael Jackson does it.

They’re interviewing his nephew about the biopic on Regis and Kelly and I ain’t saying they gotta go hard on this kid about his uncles scandals but godddddddamn the MJ worship is nuts.

I wanted to talk to you today about vitamin K shots. Especially when it comes to new parents, there’s so much disinformation and misinformation going around. But this shot has proven to be safe and effective.

It could save your baby’s life and spare you a lifetime of heartache.

McBride has done *heroic* work to secure trans rights. She's a genuine hero. Its maddening watching people attack her for it.

Okay, this is obviously very stupid and dumb and an indication of the decline of American public discourse BUT...

The fact that only 33% of Republicans think they could win a fist fight with a SEVENTY NINE YEAR OLD MAN is proof that these people are in a FUCKING CULT.
This week, Donald Trump asked a child, "You think you could take me in a fight?"

So we at @today.yougov.com obviously polled Americans on the topic. Our results:
Presidential fight club
Surveys about Donald Trump and fights, the 2010s, Spirit Airlines, abortion pills, and short-form video.

But if all you do is attack the Democratic Party while Black leaders are being targeted, Black voting rights are being dismantled, Black political power is under assault, and HBCUs are under attack, then don’t expect me to treat you any differently than I treat Trump and his MAGA acolytes.

Well you know how the old saying goes, once you win NYC Mayor with an overwhelming 51% of the vote, the Presidency is practically yours already
Why is it always the Presidency? Why can’t they do this for like a Governors race first?

In accepting this guy's "faults," my main concern is that we're taking a party that has been a haven for, and powered by, women and minorities and turning it into a space where they are expected to provide energy and votes but relinquish the driver's seat to people who don't care about them.
"They liked his style, his vibe, his outsider status—and for those reasons were willing, for now, to overlook some of his faults." But not completely, and not all of them.

The actual problem is
1) Democrats have popular policies but the country never hears about them due to right-wing propaganda;
2) Democrats constantly blame themselves and their base for this —a message right-wing media amplifies, making the problem even worse.
Obama: "What I'm more interested in for Democrats is, do you know how to just talk to regular people like we're not in a college seminar? Can you talk in plain English to folks? And not have a bunch of gobbledygook around it. Just talk like normal people talk. 'The rent is too high.'"

i think not unrelated to this is that the dems are steadily becoming the party of the professional-managerial class and are incredibly embarrassed about this. this of course mirrors the pmc itself, which instead of achieving class consciousness has achieved "class neuroticism"
Right. What's changed are norms surrounding representation & aspiration. Being an educated, cultivated person has become widely politicized in a wider environment of transgressive populist contempt for conventional respectability
In all seriousness, we made it a couple centuries, with populations on average considerably less educated, in which very successful politicians routinely deployed pretty elevated rhetoric, certainly compared with the norm today.

It's very funny to see people claw their eyes out about how to win elections and the generic ballot is settling at +10 now.

saying 'Democrats need to talk like normal people' and 'not like we're in a college seminar' and so on & so on has ALSO become a thinly-veiled way of chastising Dem leadership for giving a fraction of a fuck about marginalized people

so it raises suspicion, even if the real underlying point is good

You know what would be really fucking transformative in 2026? Electing statehouses in Michigan, Nevada, and Pennsylvania that will join the Interstate Popular Vote Compact, and designate their EC to the outright winner of the popular vote. That’s a better use of resources than navel gazing at 2028
Parties are built from the ground up, but the fantasy that a presidential bid will somehow be transformative lives on.

It's a comforting thought that our political problems are simply a matter of rhetorical mismatch and not hoary, broken, anti-democratic institutions that will take a generation-long reconstruction project to fix.

Higher ed is under authoritarian attack. Joining the fiction that all college is a sociology class you don’t like, and that Dem politicians are beholden to it, doesn’t help.

Around 40% of Americans went to or are in college. No other group that big gets cast by so many national figures as abnormal.

This is the perfect endless debate because every failure can be blamed on it, every success can be attributed to a lack of it, and no one knows what the fuck anyone actually means when they say it, which ironically is the thing it’s supposed to be arguing against
