The Book of Alien by Paul Scanlon and Michael Gross (1979). When I spotted this on the new releases shelf in my local scifi & fantasy bookshop in 1979 I thought the heavens had opened and couldn’t have slammed down my hard earned newspaper delivery money any faster for a copy.

Growing up, Chris Foss (born 1946) painted the landscapes of my imagination and his art helped sell many books to me I would not have otherwise purchased! His iconic 1970s sci-fi art still feels as awe-inspiring today as it did then.
