Quick PSA. Looking at you, local orgs and small businesses.
Crudely drawn bunny character holding a pencil, messy hand lettering surrounds them in orange to green gradient color. It says in all caps: Stop using AI for your flyers & logos! They look like shit, everybody thinks so! Seriously, you’re losing business. Just make it yourself or hire a real artist.

Gary K. Wolf • •• I've had to unfriend a few fans lately, all for the same reason. They made ridiculing, unkind, and in some cases outright cruel comments about pictures I posted of young women cosplaying Jessica. More than a person, Jessica is a state of mind. To play Jessica, you need self -confidence, a sense of humor, and a Jessican -attitude-. There is no such thing as a Jessica cosplayer being too short, too flat chested, too heavy, too thin, too unattractive, too black, too Asian, or even too male!!! All Jessica, any Jessica, every Jessica is good Jessica. I'm not giving any warnings or second chances. A single disparaging comment on a Jessica cosplayer, and I'm throwing you out of the rainbow colored Toontown Tent.

YEAH BUDDY
John Romero (@romero) Hi Sandy, I hope you’re well. I have appreciated the recent discussions. I do not agree with your framing. Regarding piracy, DOOM is a complicated example because shareware was the model. DOOM’s first episode was designed to be freely copied, passed around, uploaded, installed, and played. That enormous unpaid audience was not the same thing as piracy. It was part of how DOOM reached the world. By the mid-90s, DOOM had something like 20 million shareware installs and more than 2 million paid copies sold. Those 20 million people were not “pirates” by default. A huge number of them were playing the free episode exactly as intended. That doesn’t excuse people pirating the registered game. However, it’s important not to collapse legal shareware distribution, unpaid reach, and actual piracy into one number. I also don’t think piracy is what “gutted” id - id is still around and still making games. Piracy may have cost money, but it wasn’t the reason Quake was hard or why people eventually went different ways. So yes: pay developers. Buy the games you love. Support the people who make them. But history is messier than “pirates killed the companies.” Sometimes the same free distribution that looked like lost sales was also the thing that made the game impossible to ignore.

A Serenity Rose print from a million years ago when I was still learning to draw on a tablet. Still pretty happy with this one.
A blue-haired witch named Serenity Rose floats in a sea of conjured pink butterflies. She looks pretty happy. A close-up of Serenity’s face. She’s touching a spot on her cheek where the words “You are not alone” are written.

“You’re alienating half of your audience by being political”

Motherfucker, my “audience” is people who aren’t pieces of shit, who care about others. That’s who I make stuff for.

There is no “other half”.

Sunrise Dragon 🌄

An illustration I made for Clip Studio Paint's 47th illustration contest.

#Art #DigitalArt #FantasyArt #Fantasy #Dragon #DragonArt
Illustration: Sunrise Dragon (fantasy illustration) Digital artwork of a dragon's neck and head. Its scales are primarily colored a light sky blue, and its spikes and horns are gold. Many of its scales also have bright magenta regions. Its eyes are a shiny black. Its long neck its twisted in a snake-like position, with its head facing left. Its teeth are visible on the outside of its lips, much like crocodile teeth, and its snout is tipped in a bone-like beak structure. Two of its top teeth are especially long and tusk-like, curving outwards from either side of the head. The dragon has 3 pairs of horns, the longest and thickest of which is the highest pair on the back of the head. A thick but short spike, similar in appearance to the horns, is located on the side of the head, near the back of the jaw. 3 rows of spines extend down the creature's neck, and each spine is gold in color, with a magenta base. The center row of spines is significantly taller than the others, and each spine of this row is lobed in the center. Each lobe is patterned with white and purple spots. The dragon's environment is a cloud scene at sunrise. It consists of pastel pinks and pale purples. Some sky blue is also visible at the top of the illustration, and in the rightmost top corner the sky fades to navy blue. In front of the dragon, some pink clouds form a circular shape that frames the creature's face. Art by @sarahdraws8.bsky.social.
