In my US mil hist class yesterday we talked about how having an unmilitarized border to the north has been one of the greatest strategic advantages the 🇺🇸 has possessed for 200 years. Most nat sec systems would dream of having a neighbor like 🇨🇦. It is utterly bizarre and self-wrecking to upset this.

The Trump-lovers who hate Ukraine like to say Ukraine should just give up territory to Russia.

But look at the reality of Russian-occupied Ukraine: hunger, untreated illness, mined streets, circling drones, bodies going unburied.

This is horrible.
