Bugs me that an econ prof is willing to simply assume that professors' political views affect how they teach a subject, and that how they teach affects students' political views. Especially when studies that adjust for selection into unis & courses suggest profs' political ID has no causal effect.

Social sciences colleagues working on more critical topics (e.g., inequality, racism, collective action), how are we thinking about advising our PhD students around the NSF GRFP this cycle? Is it work the effort, any sense whether they will receive fair consideration? A lost cause at the moment?
