Great lunch with Spanish Ambassador Paloma Serra Robles. As close friends and European partners, France and Spain also work together here in Tanzania - not least through the Spanish Embassy’s great partnership with the Alliance Française. We somehow avoided football.😉
The goal is not just better maps or faster paperwork. It is greater trust in land administration, more secure transactions, fewer disputes, easier access to property - including for women - and greater attractiveness for diaspora and foreign investment.
Since July, a French aircraft has been carrying out aerial surveys over Zanzibar. LARIS also brings modern geodesy, updated mapping, digitised land records and transactions, an integrated land information system, staff training and 4 regional land offices.

EACOP, the 1,443-km oil pipeline linking Uganda to the port of Tanga, will have a capacity of 246,000 barrels/day. Now 90% complete, it reports 13,400 direct jobs and $921m spent with local companies in Tanzania. First oil is expected in H1 2027.
