shorturl.at/PGW2x In 2019 Shell Canada paid BC govt $0 in royalty payments tho produced 175 billion cubic feet of natural gas! This year alone, BC public saw $531M less in LNG royalties than BC NDP promised. New Framework will lose $3Billion that could be spent on social services we desperately need

Visited the Royal BC Museum yesterday with family. I really like what they're doing with Old Town, telling a more diverse version of BC's history. The video about the Hayashi photography studio in Cumberland is well worth the time.

🔥If we use public dollars to electrify all these LNG exports, BC’s climate pollution will still increase by ~13 million tonnes.
🔥When the gas is finally burned overseas, add another ~130 million tonnes of climate pollution.
October 2, 2026 at 4:04 PM
Fun facts:
🔥Since 2007, BC’s climate pollution has decreased by 2.3 million tonnes.
🔥Approved LNG export projects will increase BC’s climate pollution by 21.2 million tonnes by 2035.
🔥This is ten times more pollution than we’ve managed to cut in nearly 20 years.

The land that time forgot: On a recent visit to BC's Salt Spring Island I discovered a working newspaper box. So of course I bought a paper.

Levi opened today on snow that fell last winter — tarped in spring, hoarded all summer, and skiing now while the birches are still green. Aspen unwraps its own pile this weekend, 85% intact, laps free. Nobody's waiting on winter anymore. They're just keeping a little of the last one.

FASCISM IS NOW IN CANADA - WHY WOULD WE BE SURPRISED!!
PM Carney announced LNG Canada TO double BC'S most polluting project. Two days later in Fort McMurray to share his taxpayer-funded pipeline is a “project of national interest” — bypassing environmental reviews.

Heacoats, Thee (ENGLAND) - "The Medway Queen" (2026)

And Billy Childish & co. also have a new LP out that same day. I believe this is BC's 574th LP. Fifty incessant years of this, Billy has.

This is the biggest thing. BC's NDP is the only party with a leader that can actually do the job. The CONs are a mess with most of them jumping ship. OneBC is a fringe party that will never get enough seats to get power. Those two would bend the knee to Rump. Eby has proven he will not.
Yup and the choices in BC vs Eby are all not ready for public office.

Not sure the outlook for this possibility is good:
‘…the BC Government promised the new royalty system would capture half of industry profits after production costs. ‘“But experts… estimate that the proposed model would deliver only 11 to 14 per cent of net profits under most scenarios…”’

You’ll still dial 9-1-1. What’s changing is the infrastructure behind the call.

Sherri Claydon looks at B.C.’s transition to Next Generation 9-1-1—and the work required to modernize a system that can never simply be switched off.

BC's Next Generation 9-1-1 Transition Is Underway
You will still dial three numbers and expect someone to answer. Behind that familiar experience, B.C. is rebuilding the infrastructure that makes 9-1-1 work.
