Britain's #SlaveryAbolitionAct passed on #ThisDayInHistory in 1834. It forced the #BritishEmpire's slaves to keep working for four more years and gave them nothing upon #emancipation, but handed out so much money to the slave-owners that the debt incurred was paid off in 2015.

The #KumasiMutiny began on #ThisDayInHistory in 1901. It involved units of the #BritishEmpire's native troops in #Ghana taking up arms for about three weeks, largely because the crown had stopped paying them. The survivors were prosecuted though execution sentences were commuted.
