Pink ornamental currents are doing their thing. I bought three for $6 each about three years ago, and they are really coming into their own.
They are bushes with star-shaped leaves and shooting-star cascades of tiny, pendant pink flowers.

You stand on a bridge only slightly above a small creek. Sapphire blue water cascades down along rock ledges in riverfoam white rushes from springs this park is known for. You can hear the bubbling and flowing currents being threshed into tiny waterfalls by the rocks. You feel at peace here, surrounded by trees that lean in, protecting you from a harsh gray sky. This place was here long before you. This place will be here long after you. You find comfort in this certainty, as you let the water sing to you and let time fall away. You look upon a sculpture, stained glass artistry in five frames; three rectangle ones on the bottom, and two on the top set at an angle to the other three, one round and one rectangular. The sun is directly behind the top rectangle, and it’s hard to make out more than water. The round frame has swans and geese swimming placidly in light blue water, surrounded by greenery. The bottom three are fish in the blue and green pond water surrounded by plants. The two external frames are darker and hard to make out the detail of. You stand on a cliff ledge above a broad river, looking over towards one of the dams positioned along it. The sunlight from a pale gray and blue sky reflects on the water, and you can see the foam of water crashing over the rocks. Behind the dam, the river stretches off into the distance, weaving its way through a city built around it. The land is cast into shadow by the late afternoon sun preparing to set, and the sound of the water is the most vibrant thing remaining as the color of the land seeps away. For a moment, you wonder what it would be like to lay on the flat rock shelves and let the water batter around you like one of the boulders that have been resting there for ages; but it’s not for you to know. You walk towards a setting sun devoid of the color you’re used to in the skies of the land you call home, and as you reach a small bridge - a piddling thing for a ravine you could easily jump across if you chose to - you realize just how wrong everything feels. The trees are a more sickly green than they should be, and shadows are already swallowing up the ground. It’s not the first time you’ve hiked this area at night, but to do so now seems like it would be a grave mistake. You aren’t sure you’d make it to the other side of the bridge, this time.

I stopped in Seattle for two nights (good food and museums, etc.) before driving through North Cascades National Park on my way to Glacier NP. I was using an app called Clime to keep an eye on the wildfires and wind currents. It was too cold to camp at this point so I’d be hoteling from now on.

Headed for #smmw25 first thing. I always take the first flight out - less turbulence (because cooler air has fewer turbulent currents) and fewer delays and cancellations since cascades of errors haven’t piled up yet. Does it mean getting up punishingly early? Yes. Is it worth it? Also yes.
