Every 2 months on any site you’ll see JRPG fans having a crisis bc some dude said they don’t like turn based combat or something and it’s the same 3 pists every single time, the white youtuber can’t hurt you, grow up

As someone who is both a video game industry veteran AND huge fan of this franchise… this presents a very interesting conundrum.
Fighting games need a presence in the “FGC” to be profitable, but FGC’s reject hypersexuality. Does this mean that DOA has been pushed to irrelevance?

The FGC's favorite buzzword is "character expression" but that doesn't tell you anything. Going for the stuff that makes a character special feels too dangerous and not rewarding enough compared to doing the things every other character already does. Capcom should address this, cuz it sucks

The actual risk taking comes from the fighting games that FGC complain about the most. It's the likes of ARMS, or Draglade 2 decades ago

2XKO's failure will bring the next dark age of fighting games, if not an entire extinction. A company with damn near infinite money couldnt support a fighting game for a year in this climate. No unestablished IP is going to risk money on the FGC's random toxicity anymore.

The 2XKO news is sad, but considering how many of the FGC's favourite games are like 20+ years old titles from a bygone era - the reaction seems a bit overblown to me.

"Why doesn't the fgc respond like gdq did" that's easy many of the fgc's most prominent voices (tippety top players, big streamers) have achieved a petit bourgeoisie status and actively benefit from sports washing and money coming from unethical sources. Why would they threaten their own income.

There's a genuine lack of integrity in some of FGC's leading community members that are going along with things with no criticism being voiced.
