#Films&TV2026 ST: Picard S2. Contentious, but this is my favourite of the seasons. The characters have grown, the story grips me and it was really well made considering the restraints when it was in production. I would've loved more Elnor, but the rest of the main cast have room to breathe...

#Films&TV2026 Star Trek: Picard S1. I love this series: it's gentle, but means a lot to a chap who has fewer days ahead than behind him. Elegiac, thoughtful, good characters. I know it gets a lot of hate, but bugger that: I love it. 4.5/5

#Films&TV2026 Star Trek Strange New Worlds S4: amongst the worst seasons of Trek ever, and I've watched all of Enterprise! 3/10 good episodes, a couple of okay ones, the rest were just not good. The Muppet one was appalling. I feel sorry for the cast for having to put up with it. 2/5

#Films&TV2026 The Great British Sewing Bee. Joyous, warm-hearted and beautiful to watch. Judges who are constructive and friendly, contestants who have been wonderful to see develop. I often recommend this show to people are proper happy telly. And Sophie Willan has been a lovely new host. 5/5

#Films&TV2026 The Personal History of David Copperfield. Lovely, warm, gentle and witty. Grotesques aplenty and sentimental as anything, but I adore Armando Ianucci's writing. 4.5/5

#Films&TV2026 I, Claudius: almost perfect. Jacobi is dignified, warm & never less than watchable. The support cast are almost all faultless (won't mention Biggins). Such a beautiful adaptation, very much of its time: stagey and slow but in places so bloody funny. This should be enjoyed by all. 5/5

#Films&TV2026 Small Prophets: perfect. Funny, touching, incredibly well written, produced and performed by all involved. I really recommend this wholeheartedly to everyone. You'll smile, laugh and cry. Absolutely wonderful television. 5/5

#Films&TV2026 The Poseidon Adventure (1972?)
One of my favourite films as a child. It throws away most of the (excellent) book's religious and moral musings for a lot of macho posturing and shouting but Shelley Winters and Nancy Drew are brilliant. The boy needs a slap though. Full of spectacle. 3/5

#Films&TV2026 The Odyssey. Yes I'm late to the game, but I don't go to the pictures often. Spectacular, stunning to look at and the sound is immersive. The acting all round is very good, with Pattinson chewing whatever the Greeks used as wallpaper. Thought John Leguizamo was dignified and brilliant.

#Films&TV2026 The Good Place. Perfect television. Very funny, very clever & so warm. The main cast are so good, but Jason and Janet are top tier. Stories are returned to and given room to breathe, there's real development. I love the philosophy, the intelligence and the wit. And the stupidity. 5/5

#Films&TV2026 Star Trek: Starfleet Academy.
I went in ready to hate this. Oh how very very wrong I was! Absolutely brilliant telly with so many characters I've grown to love and care about. It's funny and clever.
Please ignore the online hate and watch it. So VERY good 5/5

#Films&TV2026 Ghosts Australia. It was never going to be as good as the original but is far better than the American one. Nice characters distinct from their British cousins, worth watching 3.5/5

#Films&TV2026: The Green Lantern. Just not good. I have a lot of time for Ryan Reynolds, but this doesn't allow him the freedom he needs. Not enough excitement, not enough fun, dull. 1.5/5

#Films&TV2026 Nuremberg: this is a film that will sit in my head for a while. Powerful and intelligent although there is just a passing mention of the academics, Roma gypsies and other foreign nationals who were killed in concentration camps, and none at all of the gay or disabled people. 4.5/5

#Films&TV2026 Only Murders in the Building S1: very satisfying telly. Witty with nicely written and performed characters. The whodunnit aspect isn't worth worrying about, just go along for the ride and have fun. 4.5/5

#Films&TV2026 Schitts Creek. A rewatch seemed necessary after Catherine O'Hara died earlier this year. After a slow first few episodes this becomes so warm and heartfelt. Laugh out loud moments and happy tears (Stevie in Cabaret). Favourite characters: Patrick, Stevie and Alexis. 5/5

#Films&TV2026 Allo Allo
Watched this through & there are some absolutely brilliant bits of comedy in here. Catchphrase heavy, stereotype heavy & very very silly. The performances are very good from almost the whole cast, with some playing the comedy completely straight. The final 2 series are weaker

#Films&TV2026 The Smoking Room rewatched. I love this because the writing & performances are beautiful. Horrible people being horrible (apart from Lilian & Janet who are lovely & Clint who is just Clint). Sharp, sometimes raising a wince because it's of its time. If you haven't: watch it. 5/5

#Films&TV2026 Logan's Run (1976) marvellous sexy sci-fi. Michael York and Jenny Agutter were bloody gorgeous in their day. Love this film. 4/5

#Films&TV2026 The Bride! It looks great, Jessie Buckley is a proper force as both deranged Penny/Ida and insane Mary & the rest of the cast are also very good but it lacked something. I don't know what it is, but the film doesn't quite know what IT is either. A guarded recommendation for the art 3/5

#Films&TV2026: Nosferatu. It wasn't scary, it wasn't dramatic, it wasn't fun. It looked nice and Nicholas Hoult is always beautiful, but really a big bucket of "and...?"
1.5/5

#Films&TV2026 Scamanda: a fascinating series that I only watched accidentally. It tells of a woman who faked cancer to scam thousands of dollars from the public. Absolutely awful woman with no remorse. I'd recommend this: grimly gripping. 4/5

#Films&TV2026 28 Years Later. I didn't know what to expect but really enjoyed this. Disconcerting and choppy to start but absolutely beautiful to look at even when being pretty scary.
Looking forward to the sequel(s). 4.5/5

#Films&TV2026 Æon Flux (2005). Good lord this is dreadful. People declaim or mumble (usually formulaic) significant dialogue significantly. People run about and shoot and fall. People deliver more words. Sophie Okenedo has hands instead of feet. No idea why. The locations are pretty. Avoid. 1/5

#Films&TV2026 Rewatch of Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, and blimey I love this pile of nonsense. Tina Turner was insane casting but she really works. Everyone takes it seriously enough but it has a lightness that the first 2 don't have. Scrooloose and Pig Killer are lovely supporting characters. 4.5/5
