The kookiest thing about Adam Carolla to me is that I remember him from the '90s playing a shop teacher called Mr Birchum on KROQ's Kevin and Bean show -- a character created at Jimmy Kimmel's suggestion.
Once the source of such harmless morning crew schtick.

I still remember my alarm clock going off and the steady voice of KROQ’s Doc the Rock explaining what happened that September morning.

I liked Dr. Drew on KROQ’s sexline in the ‘80’s with Poor Man. Have always wondered how he parleyed that into…anything else.

idk growing up in LA w KROQ’s Rodney On The Rock & (then) free format college radio stations/local cable stations’ near anarchic community programs I’m struck by how locale (& covariant privilege which increased as housing became a speculation vehicle) also drove divergence from beloved Midwest fam.

Same! Funny thing is I remember reading they launched mostly to stick a finger in KROQ's eye and accidentally became popular. It was so emblematic of the aughts in hindsight that it's kinda fitting it shutdown on '09, I suppose.

John Edward, who I never watched, was on KROQ's morning show years ago. Callers were all impressed by his schtick, none of them realized that he wasn't telling them anything they didn't already know.
It's an old joke, but if psychics are real why isn't their hotline calling US?

However by 2005 people like KROQ’s Kevin Weatherly were calling alt rock (as opposed to indie) “red state rock.” At this point the alt in alt rock means peak War on Terror right wing, setting up Sp3ncer to take up the prefix a few years later.

My favorite local radio concert is KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas, do you have a local show promoted by a radio station you look forward to or have enjoyed in the past?

Yikes that's quite the departure.
On the other hand KROQ'S Almost Acoustic Rock Christmas was fantastic and with a surprise addition of 4 Non Blondes.

Honestly, I'm just killing time until I have to take Ziggy to the vet later this afternoon and work is dead. So, here I am. Playing my own makeshift KROQ's Flashback Lunch like I'm still living in SoCal.
