This morning, we celebrated 50 years of #MCDOT's @rideonmct.bsky.social! The🚌system was launched in 1975 with 20 buses. Today, #RideOn has a fleet of almost 400 ADA-accessible buses, which served 18 million riders throughout @montgomerycountymd.bsky.social in fiscal year 2024! @wtopnews.bsky.social

while "looking away from task"
hit & injured a teenager (15/F) in a marked crosswalk.
Police (MCP2799007T) did not find anyone at fault
and noted the teenager was "inattentive" (talking/listening).

who was going to William B. Gibbs ES at dismissal time.
Police (MCP3037006L) found the driver at fault: failed to yield ROW.

I don't have any illusions about my email to the county actually getting us a raised crosswalk but it's nice to at least feel heard.

A bus stop, consisting of a curb ramp, a concrete landing pad, and a sign on a pole, on the side of a street with no sidewalk. There is a sidewalk on the other side of the street. MCDOT is actually not proposing to build a sidewalk here, but it is near one of MCDOT's proposed sidewalks.

We asked MCDOT to mark this crosswalk next to a park next to a high school.

They said, "Due to the holiday season, vehicle and/or pedestrian volume assessments conducted between 11/15/24 & 1/6/25 would not represent normal conditions. Therefore, MCDOT’s evaluation will take approximately 75 days".
