Well, in Jan. the bookstore I used to work at closed, so a friend & I went one last time. We browsed, petted a dog(!!!) & I bought a few books, including #Butcher&Blackbird, #Mimi'sTalesofTerror & #EveryoneonthisTrainisaSuspect. #BrynneWeaver #JunjiIto #BenjaminStevenson #BookishQOTD 📖🦋 #Booksky 💙📚
The cover of Butcher and Blackbird by Brynne Weaver. A woman and a man in silhouette stand on the top of a building (surrounded by buildings) embracing and kissing. A knife, chainsaw, axe, three birds, two skulls, and four bones surround the couple and the title, which is in large letters above them. A lot of smaller birds (drawn in the old "m" style) fly in the distance. The book promises "Romance, Murder, Chaos..." Cover of Mimi's Tales of Terror by Junji Ito. A young woman in a grey dress stands slightly turned away from the viewer, her hands up near her face, as if she's worried/scared. Behind her, but very close, are grey phantoms of horrible looking dead people: a full individual with an emaciated face and open mouth looks ready to grab her, and a host of arms reach out towards her from every direction. There is a red line down the right side of the book, and to one side of the girl are red smears reminiscent of blood. The cover of Everyone on this Train is a Suspect by Benjamin Stevenson. The book is largely red, with a train track running around the title. A train approaches head on near the bottom of the cover. A gun, a bottle of poison, an axe, a knife, and a sword surround the title as well.
