The contrast between reactions involving Yuji Naka’s downfall and Nagoshi’s seeming failure on the English-speaking side of things are kind of bizarre

To be clear, he’s the new studio head and you don’t need to (incorrectly) mansplain to me what he does.

Even under Nagoshi’s lead, his writing decisions still had to get Nagoshi’s (and likely others’) approval. That’s literally how writing for any project ever works.

SURELY this deal with the devil won't end up the way Nagoshi's deal with NetEase did

This is certainly one way to run a business. If Nagoshi's game ever sees the light of day it'll be in a heavily diminished state.
So we can point at *this guy specifically* for what happened to Ouka? And it's all but fated to happen to Nagoshi Studio too as their game is sent out to die.

mostly japanese twitter. nagoshi's fairly lauded by western fans who only know about him on a surface level, but for japanese sega fans they've been pretty fed up for a while and his former subordinates complained about him a lot. none of this is recent though, people are just talking about him.

NGL I’m a bit bothered that English-language media isn’t digging a bit deeper into Nagoshi’s alleged abuses at Sega. I think there’s a combination language barrier and bias because the game isn’t “big” in the west (most of the allegations involve Shin Sakura Wars)

People like “Nagoshi’s just making Yakuza again with Gang of Dragon, he doesn’t have any new ideas” important distinction, he’s making a Yakuza game that isn’t about how they’re totally going to retire Kiryu for real this time, which is apparently something he had to leave Sega to do

People talking about how Nagoshi's new game is a bootleg Yakuza clearly haven't been to the Steam page because this is clearly some sort of Gears of Sleeping Dogs.

I wish Harada luck in his Saudi funded endeavor. Anyway let’s see what Nagoshi’s up to.

Though I'm glad that all predictions about the Yakuza series possibly losing his way after Nagoshi's departure ended up being really wrong.
