#Prose&Praise
It's extra interesting that this Great Novel is always some masterpiece of prose and insight that these 12 famous people praise and never a pulp thing that sells eleventy billion copies

All fine, interesting books but if you praise them and then the first thing you say about the General Theory is that it’s badly written I’m not convinced you’ve spent that much time in either of those four books. I know I’m a little weird for loving the General Theory’s prose but this is excessive.

If I get an 10-paragraph long email from "a famous book club" gushing about the first 2 chapters (interestingly found as the free sample on Amazon) of my book, and in the letter they verbatim regurgitate lines of my prose back to me with massive effusive praise, that's a big ol' scam, right?

I never expected to get responses like this. I was writing it for fun, it was a lark, a distraction from work.

Now it's a novel people love so much they call it their favorite trans fiction they've ever read.

I think, if you're trans, you should give it a shot.

It’s inspiring to see how far you’ve come with the story already! Your twisted prose is just so wonderful to see unfold ^~^

I’m honored that my critique and praise have kept you encouraged and focused- To see something that was once just an idea take shape into something with form is truly special💞

Gemini 3.8 Live is winning praise for human-sounding prose and niche translations like Afrikaans and Catalan — while getting panned by devs who need serious code generation. Commenters quickly split along everyday utility vs engineering power. #ai 1/4

When you just *do* and *be* your culture, you don't "need" to remind you of what you are by engaging in dominant/ demeaning behaviour like Israeli or Danish politicians do towards the "wrong" ethnicity.

Over the next few days, I’m going to share some nice quotes about INTO THE GREAT from writers I really respect. Thanks to Van Jensen, @alexsegura.com, and @corinnabechko.bsky.social!

Both books also have content warnings inside because they do get a bit dark and body horror-y sometimes + because of the mental health themes.

Aaaand Imbued additionally contains a couple of very dear-to-me blurbs from other indie authors, Cat Rector, L. E. Harper, and Cheyenne Brammah. 💜

“In our convenience-obsessed world it’s more important than ever to celebrate the existence of literary friction, the kind of writing that doesn’t go down in one easy gulp, that makes you sit in your uncertainty or even discomfort. This kind of contemplation is a big part of how you grow …”

That’s high praise! Progression fantasy really benefits from clear, engaging prose alongside a strong sense of momentum. What do you think makes Rowe stand out most as a writer?

Your own poetry is to be included in this praise. Prose is poetry.

We are condemned to create; it is essential to life. Those who don’t create are already dead.

"Some of JL's work on Vermont ghost towns caught national attention for his 'cozy yet scare-filled prose in which he portrays the ghost stories of Vermont as epics the likes of which Homer would never have dreamed.' Sara says that’s big praise. JL nods. One of his favorite reviews. " @jldurona.com

This kind of prose draws attention & praise from some literary corners, but it has only the air of profundity. The alarm ran long ago on bad bitch o'clock to the point that now talk of badassery can come across as dated as the "schwing" from "Wayne's World." 💙📚

"The act of thinking and learning and growing is anathema to our increasingly fascistic world. Which is all the more reason to double down on them. Questioning everything is the one way every single one of us can fight the tide."

The praise and prizes he won for Rubicon and Persian Fire generally were in that mould - they were for his prose and storytelling, not historical research or argument.

And to give him his due, prose writing *is* a valuable skill, and it's one a lot of professional historians lack!
