We’d have:
- enough bay leaves for the whole neighbourhood
- pears one year in 10 when we get to them before rats/wind/neighbours taking it upon themselves to do a brutal cutback at the wrong time of year
-cherries that one time we got nets on before the birds found them
-unpredictable plums

すっかり失念していたけれど、Bandcamp で属梨の2つのシングル曲を試聴できる。専任ギタリストが退団したため、現在とはスタイルに違いがあるかも知れない。というのも、ギターを弾きながら歌うのは難しいのだそうだ。
In summer, we grow tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, eggplant and have a bunch of orchard trees (apples, pears, peaches, figs, and a pomegranate I consistently fail to get to produce). The only fruit that ever gets gnawed on by the wood rats and squirrels is the eggplant. Which is a puzzlement to me.

We know the park side of the street gets quite a few, but this is a first. Normally it’s fat brown rats, foxes and the occasional squirrel.
It was a very healthy looking chunk and I note it’s demolished all the strawberries and one of the low hanging pears looks like it’s been nibbled at bit.
