#Scifi often gets so close to #Sentientism's "compassion for all sentient beings"... easily and intuitively granting moral consideration to sentients even very different from the protagonists.

But it often fails too (warning: spoiler alert 🚨):

Grateful to be invited to another #interfaith event yesterday to represent the #Sentientism worldview. Some good conversations about the commonalities and differences between faith-based worldviews and Sentientism’s “evidence, reason and compassion for all sentient beings”.

Over time more people might shift towards a Sentientist worldview.

Also, other worldviews might shift towards Sentientism’s “evidence, reason and compassion for all sentient beings.”

There’s already much common ground between worldviews. And positive changes are happening.

Most challenges to the #Sentientism worldview take the form: “Why doesn’t it easily, perfectly and intuitively solve problem X to the satisfaction of all?” 😊

Yet it’s fairly rare to hear challenges to Sentientism’s “evidence, reason and compassion for all sentient beings” itself 🤔

Sentientism's "evidence, reason and compassion for all sentient beings" has radical implications for intra-human problems and opportunities too.

Thanks for your reply! As a vegan, I share Sentientism’s ethical stance on animals. After exploring Sentientism a bit more, here are a few areas where I think we differ. You mentioned Sentientism’s "evidence and reason" focus is about naturalistic epistemology rather than any specific ontology.

Some worry that #Sentientism's #sentiocentric moral scope is "picking a characteristic as moral qualifier". We know how badly that can go wrong.

Does this angle help?: Our morality should consider the perspectives of all others who value their own perspectives.

This is why we need Sentientism's "evidence, reason and compassion for all sentient beings" as well as veganism.

Lots of vegans, sadly, have broken epistemologies and broken ethics - even if they're right about veganism.

Ditto with atheists and agnostics and rationalists and sceptics.

Even young children can understand #Sentientism’s “evidence, reason & compassion for all sentient beings”.

Often it’s already the way they think. Learning about reality honestly & curiously. Caring about other sentient beings, human & not.

Before their indoctrination begins.

One day soon all pro-science, curious, rational, #skeptic & #Humanist platforms and thinkers will drop their #anthropocentrism & adopt #sentientism's "evidence, reason & compassion for all sentient beings".
