A few more for you while I'm on this:

SILK: FIBER. SATIN: WEAVE. You can get satin made out of cotton, polyester, even wool. Satin is known for being silky, but that doesn't make it silk.

You can get polyester satin but you cannot get polyester silk.
Just read an article that said "cotton, wool, or denim" and I'm once again asking everyone to learn the difference between a fiber and a weave

(Denim is cotton in a particular twill weave. The definition can sometimes be stretched to include other fibers, but absent modifiers, it means cotton)

The satin rouleaux that trim many an #1820s evening dress are so beautifully chunky. They represent so much labour, hand making the long robes of satin before applying them in loops around the sleeves and hem #MarylandHistoryCenter #FashionHistory 🗃️🪡

The dress and fabric were designed by Jean-Phillippe Worth, son of the famous Charles Frederick Worth. This type of fabric is called a cisele velvet, or cut velvet. The silk velvet pile - the plush part - is blue, while the backing fabric - or ground - is green silk satin.
