It's the fate that they spend the rest of the movie trying to avoid. There is a moment where Yelena reflects on Taskmaster's death and how it's the likely outcome for people in their line of work. It's one of the things that motivates her to be more heroic.

And I never said I was okay with Taskmaster's death, just that I understood why it happened to a story perspective. That doesn't mean I hate women, it just means that I can understand story decisions.

Taskmaster's death had nothing to do with her being a women and why are you mad at two women being treated as equals to the men and you think that women have to be on all-female teams because men otherwise overshadow them just by existing? That's weird. And in general, stop lying.

I can normally get past Taskmaster’s overall Britishness because I go in blind on most contestants and the ones I do know about prior I generally am positive on — this new series is a challenge to me because 2 of the 5 are Known Assholes

Taskmaster’s new season is on Disney+/hulu/whatever and so is in higher res than it was on YouTube I think. Anyway British people shouldn’t be shown in 4K.
