Per-unit A* on the tile grid, with reused buffers so lots of units re-pathing stays cheap. Group orders keep their shape and move at the slowest unit's pace.

And, yeah, depending on the hacking gear, you can shut down a unit's movement, shooting ability, or make them more vulnerable to attacks.

One of about 1/2 dozen fixes i did on my now 22 year old split hvac system.
The outdoor compressor/condenser unit's large fan was intermittently stalling out or not starting up until I replaced the dual capacitor ($12 on amazon).
