Bulgaria’s geopolitical recategorization from USSR’s closest satellite to a member of core Europe is de facto complete. A historical achievement!

Watching American Republican congressmen attack NATO alongside tech oligarchs only reinforces my belief that the U.S. won’t last four years without some form of disruptive event: unrest, secessionism, or other catastrophic events. It’s like watching the USSR’s decline speedrun.

🚨BREAKING🚨 A deeply confused Donald Trump suggests Putin was president during World War II.

Putin was born in 1952.

FYI: The USSR’s WWII losses are estimated at around 26.6 million - not 51 million.

Only silver lining of the USSR's collapse is that the guys who would've been nuclear physicists are instead engineering the most evil sounding synth you've ever heard

Did you know there was a Chinese Soviet Republic (like literally called a Soviet, explicitly copying the USSR's homework) that used money with Lenin's face on it

How can one not admire history’s exquisite dark sense of humor?

As part of a “delegation” of sanctioned Russian State Duma deputies visiting the United States, there was none other than the actual grandson of USSR's Vyacheslav Molotov, there to discuss a Trump–Putin pact.

It was the USSR's decision to invade and brutalize Afghanistan, they didn't have to do that.
But the USSR doesn't, specifically because of western terrorism led by America.

I have to admit that I did not have “The Defense Department under a Republican administration resurrects Socialist Realism three decades after the USSR’s collapse” on my bingo card.
They’ve set up a meme combatant command basically.

interesting he’s there at the border fence with what some gangbangers and 60s fidelista types. Where the peer military he’s going to tangle with?

Tiny Finland fought USSR’s invading army to a standstill in 1939 “Winter War”. Kept their independence but never forgot Russian treachery
President Stubb:

Some of the international media might wonder, "Why is the President of Finland here?" I think the reason is probably that we might come from a small country, but we have a long border with Russia, over 800 miles⤵️

How dare you imply there were problems with the USSR's agriculture

the number of people who think that secret knowledge about the USSR can be found at the CIA but not in the USSR's own archives is very large

Russia is extremely overrated. I think it is based on people watching WWII documentaries and then the USSR's massive presence around the world. Enormous parts of Russian power comes from this misunderstanding.

‼️ Putin's war will be longer than the USSR's battle with the Nazis in 1941-1945 as early as January, but this doesn't fill Russians with either pride or optimism, - The Economist.

Apparently this is a Lada, the USSR's cheap car that remains Russia's most popular automobile.
I have to think it's on purpose, to taunt us.
You can't make this up

But all the shit that went down in the 90s is always blamed on USSR collapse, with a not-so-quiet implication that USSR should've been allowed to remain in one form or another.
No, don't look at these problems as a result of USSR's policies. Only look at them as a result of USSR's collapse

There is a misconception that when the USSR dissolved, all treaties and documents it signed became "dead." This isn't true. Russia assumed the USSR's UN seat, Security Council seat, and ownership of those signatures, such as the Helsinki Final Act.
