#Vajda's
I need to stop looking at George Vajda’s annotations of all the BNF’s sira manuscripts late at night. It’s not healthy.*

Also this interesting tidbit, would love to know more:

"findings also provide the first genetic signal — albeit a tentative one — for Vajda’s Dene-Yeniseian hypothesis, which proposed genealogical connections between Yeniseian and the Na-Dene family of North American Indigenous languages."

Also is anyone talking about the new Proto-Yeniseian project that challenges Vajda's claims of Dene-Yeniseian?
Been following the two papers published so far (Bonnmann et. al 2023 and 2024) and also (Fries & Korobzow 2024)

FWIW some of my friends took a grad seminar on it and everyone in the class thought Vajda’s evidence was pretty shoddy. Really need to look into it myself one of these days.

The 20th century, unfortunately, was a horrible dead time for a lot of research in linguistics and archaeology in the region due to its ideological environment. Look at how much we progressed about Indo-European origins in the 1990s/2000s. You're thinking of Vajda's Dene-Yeniseian paper?

We were honoured to host the UK's last ECJ judge, Prof Christopher Vajda KC, for our 2025 Annual Lecture last Thursday. Prof Vajda's talk, "Is the Right to Privacy Too Important in EU Law?", invited us to reflect upon the consistency of EU case law, judicial dialogue, and EU accession to the ECHR.
