I've always hated that argument.
Ash WON against Brock. Even though Ash forfeited, Brocks siblings interfered and thus disqualified Brock.
Ash won against Misty, even without Pikachu, and if Pikachu had fought it would have been a nothingburger.
The only one that's really questionable is Sabrina
