Not only is this not happening, the Chinese dominance of EV’s is a terrifying development for US auto manufacturers.
Trump: "Auto plants are all coming back to our country. They're coming back from different countries where they left us for Germany and Japan and South Korea, Canada, Mexico. And they're all coming back at levels that nobody has ever seen before. Tariffs did it. I did it."

I think not enough people understand that the pushback against renewables and EV's is money.
Without getting too in the weeds: renewables cannot ever be as profitable as oil and gas.
EV's don't make as much money as gas guzzlers.
That's it. That's all you really need to know.

Ok there's a lot of incorrect information going around on this, so I want to be clear that the problem with the Big 3 and EV's isn't that the Big 3 didn't want to make EV's. The problem, as with so many things, is Trump. I'm gonna do a little thread on this because people don't seem to be aware. 1/x

It's theater of the absurd. American car makers refuse to accept the reality that EV's are the future and ICE's are on their way out: and they offer US consumer's expensive gas guzzling SUV's but no affordable EV's. So American's are buying foreign EV's like crazy right now.
