It's kind of insane that for the first 10,000 years of agriculture all grain was hand ground on saddle querns. Mesopotamians, Egyptians, Greeks, all hand ground grain for 4-5 hours a day to feed a family.

This is just bleak as hell, man. The end of the idea of development and international assistance. Was it completely altruistic in the first place? No! But the main non altruistic instinct was putting giant USA letters on the grain to feed starving people.

If not for subsidies the republican party would have collapsed long ago.
