Cleese’s politics, unfortunately, will be right at home.

Idle’s the cool one.

(This may not actually reflect poorly on Eric Idle's technical acumen; this website rejects like 80% of the videos one attempts to upload to it with entirely cryptic errors)

For those unfamiliar, Idle has stated multiple reasons in the past for loathing John Cleese.

Including Idle's own guilt for not standing up to Cleese when he was constantly bullying Terry Jones during Python.

went to see eric idle's one man show a couple of years back, and the absolute best part was him slagging off john cleese at every opportunity

One of Eric Idle's best bits ever was when, at George Harrison's funeral, he said to gathered friends and family, "I'd like to thank Marlboro, without whom you wouldn't be here this morning."

Eric Idle's impression of him in that Python sketch is one of Idle's greatest, funniest performances.

Bill Oddie managed the rare second act of becoming beloved twice: first as a Goodie, then as the wildlife presenter who taught Britain to look up. Eric Idle’s memory is lovely. RIP.
I’m so sad Bill Oddie left us. He was sick for some time and I wrote to him. He auditioned me for The Pembroke Revue in 1963 and I stepped into his roles for The Edinburgh Festival when the Cambridge Footlights went to the West End. We watched England win the World Cup together at Wembley in ‘66.

Same episode by the way. The stuff I know and have seen clipped cause my friend's way into all corners of Disney's Hercules. Eric Idle's in this series and this episode too.

Has some of the highest highs of the Pythons’ career. Idle’s musical work in particular is sublime.

My dog and Eric Idle's dog played together in a park and we were the only two people there. We had a long, friendly chat about our dogs and then I left. I didn't realize it was him for hours.

I have been a major, major Monty Python fan for decades. I got Flying Circus on DVD the day it came out.

Really enjoyed @ericidle.bsky.social's book talk in London last night. Loved the story about Robin Williams wearing a full mosquito net and the singalong at the end. Can't wait to read the book!

For confused young people and Americans, the name came from Idle's show "Rutland Weekend Television" which was itself a parody of the broadcast channel "London Weekend Television" - Rutland being the smallest and possibly least urban county in the UK.

'I think I can write as badly here as I can in London': Monty Python star Eric Idle's 55-year French escape from fame
The Monty Python star bought a shack in Provence in 1972. Here's how he spent the next 55 years making it his refuge from fame – and how it somehow became a celebrity retreat.
