With Farabu no longer trying to overwrite the memories of his world soul to Azeroth, he's been officially been suspended from the Cult of Forgotten Shadows.

But he wasn't banished back to the void! He was allowed to stay on... One condition.

I keep running into stuff like this, but this one questline is SO obscenely similar. It's genuinely so validating <3

Hastua/Kar'cozha could've feasibly have existed in this setting.

It absolutely could have. I GET TO BE SLUGGE FROM SPACE <3

Dawn on the shores of the city of Kar'cozha. A neonate crawls to land, ready to receive insight through a name.

(Decided to cancel the rest of this comic. Have the whole thing. I just don't have it in me anymore.)

#art #warcraft #homebrew #comic #kar'cozha
Panel 1. A man descends a cliff towards two others on the shore of a sunlit beach. 2. A small, diminutive creature - the infant of their species, crawls along the sand, out from the sea. 3. A pair of cloven, clawed hands gently lift the creature from the sand. A glowing trail of light begins to emit from the creature's spine. 4. A hooded man with teal skin and tendrils for hair sings to the creature in his palms. He is chanting a sacred prayer, giving his name and granting the small creature its own. Upon receiving its name, the creature's eyes open wide as it is granted insight. It peacefully sits in the man's hands, looking out towards the sunrise. 5. The neonate is then handed towards an excited woman, overjoyed to meet her new charge. In the background is the man from the first panel, descending the staircase. 6. The woman takes the neonate into her hands and joyfully cradles it into her face. 1. A woman walks down the beach and is greeted by a young man with his arm in a sling. 2. The woman, far too preoccupied with something in her arms ignores the man. He looks back as she walks away. 3. The man jabs his thumb behind him, raising a brow in confused amusement. He asks "Was that Thalua just now?" bemused by her presence. In the box below, he is introduced as A'lessandi, Junior Chorister of Kar'cozha. 4. The man looks across the beach to who he is talking to. A hooded man, looking out to see. It takes him a moment to answer, as he's deep in thought. 5. A close up of the man's face is revealed as he turns to face the acolyte. An older gentleman with a glowing gold underbelly. In the box below, he is introduced as "I'lenea, Choir Master and Designator of Names" He speaks "Indeed, she decided to finally take on a--" 6 He is interrupted upon seeing A'lessandi's broken arm, points at it and shouts: "By Hastua! What happened to your arm?!" Panel 1: A'lessandi holds himself tighter. The tentacles on his back curl up around him in a defensive posture as he recalls the night before- still rather shaken up. He says "A Bright One. Right outside Yelanua's Villa" Panel 2: "Watcher Glauceus killed it." He finishes his statement. I'lenea looks up at him, his expression flat. He seems rather annoyed at the mention of this watcher. Panel 3: A long shot of the Kar'cozhan coastline with the two standing on the beach, looking out to sea. "I see. Oddly charitable of the brass one. Though with no flesh to have torn from him, I suppose he had little reason to fear." I'lenea says, arms folded behind his back. "And no heart to bleed for the dead." A'lessandi adds. Panel 4: I'lenea looks back to his student, brow raised with concern. He knows that A'lessandi meant by that. The bright one killed one of their own. "Who was it?" he asks. A'lessandi looks down, eyes shut. "I don't know." Panel 5: A'lessandi's voice wavers and he holds his free hand to his head. He's becoming distressed. "I couldn't recognise them. The beast, it-" I'lenea interrupts him to ease his student. "It's all right, A'lessandi." Panel 6: I'lenea holds a hand to his chest, pulling at a strand of golden energy like a thread as he begins to cast a spell. "We shall know soon enough. For just as we bind names to grant insight to new life, a name unbound signals its end." Panel 1: I'lenea draws a symbol in the air, using the essence billowing from his chest as the ink to his scrying. He is using his peoples' power over names and sigils to locate the name of the deceased. Panel 2: A large spread on the backdrop of the cosmic wheel. In the center in a pool of orange blood is a skeleton curled into a half foetal position. The blood stretches across the spheres of the cosmic wheel like branching neurons. The blood trail ends down to I'lenea, his face is darkened under his hood and in its place is the sallow mark of Hastua- depicting two individuals bound by one skewering sign. "We are woven into this world through flesh. And bound to a tapestry of synapses and signifiers. Only severed... When we join our sundered father." Panel 3: A brass titan watcher is in the midst of battle with a beast with a multitude of black and gold tentacles. The watcher brings his trident down into the creature's body, spilling glowing blood in a violent burst.

Possibly the most important building in lost Kar'cozha- second only to the chantry hall. The Taemae (Bath-house) ... or more like the bath district. It was huge.

#art #warcraft #homebrew #wowrp #worldbuilding #kar'cozha
A CENSORED (bluesky, there's nothing there, relax...) image of two Alrae in a bath-house. The darker one, A'lessandi is using a cloth to wipe down his arm as he stands in the pool, looking over his shoulder and smiling at his companion. The pale, lavender Alrae, Yelanua sits on the edge of the pool, smiling over to him as she leans back on one hand. She is dipping one toe into the pool while they talk over the day's events. Alrae need water. They breathe through their skin. They had to maintain good hygiene out of water to keep their pores open and stay healthy. The ocean is a dangerous place and so they built large structures to better facilitate their need to maintain hygiene and hydration. There were outdoor tamae on the beaches along the countryside, but they were not considered the safest of places to be- what with the giant lobstrok that could come and attack on a semi-regular basis. While the baths were the central feature of the tamae, there were many facilities within these structures. Gyms, canteens, even some chantry halls for festivals. The Tamae was a massive structure, practically an indoor district. The pools were kept clean by staff and through the use of petal slugs, which were used as living pool cleaners- and the water ran through the structure back to the sea, and as the Alrae were a unisex species- only learning the concept of gender from the more binary coded titans, there was no separation. Bathing was a communal practice. Visiting a tamae was a long process- and as such it was beneficial to simply conduct many aspects of society within its walls. It was one of the few places where social status did not matter. There was a strict code of conduct within the halls of these spaces, both to maintain civility and hygiene. Choristers would bathe and discuss matters with dancers, fishermen would play games in the gymnasiums with politicians. Once their leisure was over, it was back to work and conflict.

Several images of a tiny slug like creature living out its first days on land, being cared for by its adoptive parent and being frightened of other slugs. It sleeps in a bowl, where it is hydrated on the regular. When it is woken up for its breakfast, it takes its frustrations out on its caregiver, drawing orange blood and some very loud expletives. After he leaves to bandage his finger, he returns to pick the creature up with a grumble and his claws tucked in to prevent another bite. The caregiver holds the creature and lectures it on not biting people, where it stares up with a vacant expression on its face. It is then treated to a slab of meat for its breakfast- very content and oblivious to the destruction it caused.

PART THREE: Examples of character names, both Kar'cozhan and Azerothian. (along with some examples of some whacky ways runes can be written for mysteries and befuddlement)

#art #worldbuilding #homebrew #Kar'cozha #wowRP
Two runes are pictured, detailing the same character, whose name changed after a pivotal moment in their life. A'lessandi's Rune: Born of the depths, with a belly of fire. Seeks insight through the stars above. Named for his bright orange underbelly and how he was observed staring up at the sky when he first opened his eyes as an infant. Farabu's Rune: Born of the depths, with a belly of fire. Scourged by blazing radiance, seeks satiation through entropy. Name’s meaning changed to refer to the burning, cloying emptiness that befalls all who reside in the void. Two runes are pictured, showcasing two Azerothian characters: Cynya (belongs to @portergauge) and Dynamae (belongs to @kudgens) When a Kar’cozhan learns a new name, they intuitively ascribe meaning to it, creating a rune in their mind's’ eye. Imprinting a signifier for that person. It represents a bond which grows in potency and depth. When the Kar’cozhan’s name is given in exchange, the connection is made manifest… as can control in the wrong hands. Cynya's Rune: Child of the Sun, pulled from death to the Shadows. Eyes of flame pierce like spears, seeking purpose. Dynamae's Rune: Earthmother’s child. Student of nature’s canon, descended to chaos. Life returns from the forest fire. A potential student again. Two runes are pictured. Both messy with jagged edges and overlapping lines. They represent Carcer (Belongs to @meggoart) and Derrowen (belongs to me!) Many overlapping lines and symbols crossing over each other in a name may represent that the person who holds it may be an enigma to the viewer of the name, or to the holder of the name itself. Sharp, pointed, striking lines can represent direct, matter of fact brutality, or it could mean quick-thinking attempts at misdirection. Names like this are as challenging to follow as the person who holds it. Carcer's Rune: Son of the Tides, Once maintained order, descended to violence. Born and reshaped through the void. A bastion again. By choice? A stone tower erupts from the sea. Placid? Or a storm ready to descend again? Derrowen's Rune: Daughter of tides. Seeker of stable truths. Returns to the world. Logic. Stability. Too stable. Rigidity. Flowing to the void. Practical Liar. Obfuscator. What do you seek that requires so many eyes and skins. Two runes are pictured, showcasing how sloping curves and sudden changes in direction can also lead to complicated runes. They depict Gazrik (belongs to me) and Cletus (Belongs to @kottkrigart) Conversely, excessive sloping curves may suggest a calm, calculating individual, or an overcautious one who slowly considers every step. A well balanced view of a person may have a mix of straight and curved lines, or a single straight line in a curved name could represent a sudden, potent moment associated with the name, or hesitation. Understandably, names like this can get… hectic. Gazrik's Rune: Man of the law, sought freedom on wind and sail. Expected death, eventually, found it. Gunfire! Calculating collection of blood, sustains himself. Sustains others. A strong foundation for a church to vice in the sand. Cletus' Rune: Child of light. Preacher. Crawled from the grave. Mourns the light, reaches for a moment. Hesitates. Finds the Shadow. Yearns for more. Back. Forth. Lost on a path. Pulled on a yoke. Wavering. Hopefully settled. Hopefully happy.

PART TWO: Examples of Kar'cozhan chorister and dancer names.

#art #worldbuilding #homebrew #Kar'cozha #wowRP

(More context can be found in the original masterpost here) bsky.app/profile/mclo...
Name and Spellcrafting: While the name of an object or person can be made of multiple runes, a spell is typically formed in a continuous line. (After all, breaking the line would break the spell mid-cast. Which, could have disastrous effects) The only outlier is when casting a spell that affects an individual or individuals- for example, the seal of Hastua. This is because the rune denotes the subject *before* the spell. These spells often denote a name in of themselves too- the anchoring spell is also the symbol for Hastua and Alrae as a whole. Alrae words and names can often have the same symbol, but entirely different meanings. It is an extremely context sensitive language- as they developed signifiers in the mind long before a verbal language. They developed a verbal language around the time of the Titan’s Arrival. It was when they likely developed the means to physically speak and sing. When that happened, they continued to use their written language, but created verbal components to try and communicate their reliance on signifiers to those who couldn’t see into their minds’ eye. Every word, every name is a unique sound. Their shared eidetic memory relies on this to recall every, single, individual born of Hastua and those individuals’ experience. When to use a line, when to use a curve? It’s a feeling. A line is direct. A curve is a gentle slope. But who is to say a gentle slope can’t have the hidden meaning of lingering violence behind it? The direction of the line’s stroke, the direction of a curve, it all can grant additional context to a symbol. Two runes are pictured. Representing I'llenea and Yelanua (two choristers of different ranks. In the center of Yelanua's rune is a smaller, white rune which represents the symbol of Hastua.) Every chorister is granted their name from their mentor, or by the council at large. While their primary responsibility is the gathering of words and names through song, they often oversaw other matters pertaining to spiritual well being. The highest of their order was granted the means to inscribe Hastua’s rune into their own to act on its posthumous behalf, and oversee the collective memory directly. I'llenea's Rune: Hued of the depths they spawned from. A gentle gaze nurtures and safeguards new life from the waters. Yelanua's Rune: Ascended from the depths on gentle ceras. Through the Light’s grace, safeguard our land, custodian of our sea. Heir of Hastua. Two runes are pictured. Representing the dancers Vehemensa and U'ulenua. Where modern choristers draw the runes from the collective memory and inscribe through the titans’ granted voices, there was division. Some still held true to the old ways. These dancers inscribed their runes through steps upon amphitheatre floors and cutting the air with blades. It was a rite to rename themselves upon graduation. Vehemensa's Rune: Born from turbulent depths. Frantic blades on the breeze bring devastation. U'ulenua's Rune: Wind eventually erodes stone. All things began from the depths. Cut through the world and return.
