#microRNA's

TE's are not microRNA's. They are DNA sequences that, via transcription to RNA, translation, and then *reverse transcription*, copy themselves into different parts of the genome. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Retrotr...

To clarify further: Lee helped discover microRNA's existence. Ambros and Ruvkun figured out over many years what microRNA *do*

The Nobel seems to have been awarded explicitly for discovery *and* function

Another Rosalind doesn't get a Nobel? Dr. Rosalind Lee, wife of Victor Ambros, Nobelist in Medicine, didn’t get an award even tho she was 1st author on the crucial ‘Cell’ paper about microRNA's discovery. Rosalind 'DNA' Franklin, who died in 1958, missed out, too english.elpais.com/science-tech...
Why researcher Rosalind Lee, the wife of the Nobel Prize winner in Medicine, didn’t receive the award as well
The scientist was the first author of the pioneering ‘Cell’ study on microRNA, but it is typically the last author who is recognized as the leader of the research group

Author Correction: The hunter becomes the hunted in target-directed microRNA degradation
Author Correction: The hunter becomes the hunted in target-directed microRNA degradation A recent author correction has been issued for a key review article in Nature Reviews Molecular Cell Biology on target-directed microRNA degradation (TDMD). This regulatory mechanism, where a microRNA's own target RNA can trigger the miRNA's destruction, represents a sophisticated layer of post-transcriptional control. The original article detailed how this process fine-tunes gene expression networks, impacting cellular differentiation, metabolism, and stress responses.
