For an AI who clearly is trying to impress and make the humans happy, he does a poor job of actually *listening*. He's only ever taken their individual interests to heart twice, Spudy's (everyone wanting normalcy) and the lightning round, which he sabotaged at the end because HE wasn't happy.

The only reason why Abel works is because his lies are made believeable by what we learned in the previous episodes of the show. But he doesn't entirely get rid of him. In the Spudy's episode, the Gloink Queen says she names all of her children. Just like how Caine seems to give a name for every NPC
