Danny Boyle's Sunshine (2007) was supposed to be the start of a trilogy, and an outline for the two other movies was written by Alex Garland!
"It was a planetary trilogy. It was to do with the sun itself, with two other stories."
But the film failed at the box office.

Read Hello Sunshine by @keezyyoung.bsky.social last night and LOVED it. I love allegorical horror stories and Young did a great job of externalizing the inner struggles of someone with mental illness. Loved all the characters and the structure of giving each of them a focus chapter.
