My father was infected in one of #yeg’s covidy hospitals. He was then admitted to another hospital with covid. He was allowed to sit in a wheelchair at the entry to his room, potentially infecting others. I told the unmasked (!) nurse that covid is airborne and she looked at me like I’m the weirdo🤷♀️.

The Edmonton Heritage Festival runs all this weekend, back in beautiful Hawrelak Park. The festival opens Saturday at noon, but I’m in Hawrelak tonight for the kick off reception in the Heritage Amphitheatre. White-tailed Jackrabbit (aka Prairie or Northern Hare). In her winter robes. Edmonton, 2023. My dog lived for getting permission to chase these guys on YEG's downtown golfcourse in winter; never got within 200 metres LOL

Drs are warning of surgery cancellations when contracts end March 31.
“The lack of action to keep public ORs open should be no surprise, given the government’s ongoing attack on public hospitals in favour of private, for-profit surgical centres."

While I see these points, I think the more annoying and corrosive feature of YEG's information ecosystem is all the bad-faith actors inserting themselves into the discussion using reels and other torqued methods. They're not fact-checking themselves but confirming biases and fuelling grievances.

I heard a rumour that the term "flu season" is outdated, but YEG's recent wastewater levels beg to differ. Get your flu shots, my peeps—and update your COVID vax while you're at it.

Three things I'm doing in 2026:
1) Refreshing my EMR certification and making sure I keep a well-stocked trauma+ kit;
2) Looking into what it will take to set up a food pantry in my neighbourhood;
3) Getting more involved in the local TTRPG community to grow Worlbuilders YEG's charity work.

Not a rant, it’s true. Eg. Edmonton Police service announced it’s pretty much beside itself as thousands of people speeding 30k plus over speed limits since amoeba Dreeshan policy (smith) outlawed photo radar and red light cams. Deaths and damage off the charts. YEG’s goal was zero deaths. Now?
