At last week's NYC Labor Day March we caught up with Avia, a member of @1199seiu.org to talk about what it means for workers to be fighting back in this moment we're living through.

Workers fighting together is what will win the future! Unions are how we organize that fight.

We're gonna keep fighting for Haitian TPS holders' rights.

We're also gonna provide mutual aid to our coworkers in need.

Please consider donating an hour's wage to our Bread and Roses Cultural Project, which is providing 100% proceeds to affected members & their families.

Americans are struggling over every bill, every purchase, every paycheck. 94% say shit is too expensive. We can't go out to dinner or take a vacation.

That’s the maddening reality we face every day. Nothing common sense about that.

At 1199, we know that people’s lives, contributions, and dignity are never temporary.

That’s why we oppose the Trump administration’s recent cancellation of TPS for Haitians and Syrians. In response, we’ve created an emergency fund to provide direct support to affected 1199ers and their families.
