Increasingly, brands and industry associations will proclaim commitments to protecting workers from the worst effects of climate change. Absent binding obligations on brands, however, garment workers will continue to be forced to work long hours for low wages under extreme heat.

Year after year, dozens of Cambodian garment workers continue to die from the horrendous absence of safety during their commutes.

Responsible brands would not allow these workers who make their clothes to risk injury and death every day, just to get to work.

The WRC recognizes the positive efforts and meaningful commitments of both Fanatics Apparel, as a university licensee, and Hoosier, as a longtime manufacturer of collegiate goods, to restore compliance with university codes of conduct and remedy the factory’s dismissal of 367 workers in August 2025.
