I kind of wonder how much of "Astra for Law" is based on OpenAI scraping PlainSite in violation of copyright law. The government records aren't copyrighted, but PlainSite puts together profiles that are.

So here is my Greg Brockman story, because many years before he violated the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, 18 U.S.C. § 1030, he and his buddies at Stripe (including Patrick Collison and Saikat Chakrabarti) violated 18 U.S.C. § 1960: running an unlicensed money transmission business. It's a felony.

That's a straightforward criminal violation of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. OpenAI executives in jail.

Dems would do well to conduct serial impeachments. First Heggy (if he is not convicted in Dec, after he IS impeached in House), then RFK. Then prioritize based on what will either gain support among Senate GOPers OR embarrass them.

So while everyone has been freaking out over whether AI is going to kill us or not (and who knows), I have been trying to figure out ways to use it to make the legal system—beyond just the Supreme Court—more understandable to the average person, which is what I started PlainSite to do 15 years ago.

This is insane. Would be funny if because the lawyers at OpenAI and Anthropic warned their clients that they're going to get sued out of existence if they don't stop, and that caused the dire warnings, millions of people sued for negligent infliction of emotional distress and they went out of business anyway.
even if you're open to the idea that frontier transformer models present profound risks to Society As We Know It, it's not really clear what anyone is supposed to do about it... besides take on a bunch more vague, free-floating anxiety, and like who has the mental health budget for that?
