Rewatched The Odyssey, and as someone semi-frequently praised for her dialogue, I strongly disagree the dialogue in this movie is bad. It rarely goes beyond functional, but it doesn’t need to be more than that. A richly poetic script would throw off the film’s equilibrium.

I do want to pick apart this observation in Emily Wilson's review: "we are not shown that war and killing are bad." This is an odd point to me, given that I found the entire war as presented to be a squalid, poisoned event that has brought everyone involved with it harm despite its glorification

The absolute arrogance of PlayStation this generation is on a different level. Xbox’s ineptitude over the last decade has resulted in a PlayStation that simply doesn’t think it has to do anything to retain its user base. “Our customers will simply deal with it” has become the company motto.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for George Saunders, but Vigil is, at best, a misguided tale of forgiveness in the face of evil and, at worst, morally feckless.

REMEMBER: All the "Don't use em-dashes" "don't use rule of three" advice because it makes your writing "look like AI" is because they stole actual writers work, and their "predict the next thing" stuff just simulates what WE FUCKING DO. Keep writing well. Use every style and trick you have. Fuck AI.
