I would like to point out that the local people in Bolivia were already familiar with the new cat species, traditionally calling it "Tilcayo", a name honored by the scientists who carried it over into the formal scientific name Leopardus tilcayo.

BREAKING NEWS: New cat species just dropped! 🧪

What is a tilcayo, exactly?

Well, it's a small wild cat in the genus Leopardus and a member of the tiger cat species complex, but it is NOT a tigrina, oncilla, kodkod, Geoffroy's cat...

Big news: The family of Tierra Walker, who died after she couldn't get an abortion, is suing a slate of Texas actors in state court, including AG Ken Paxton. They say the state ban is unconstitutional.

This is the first suit of its kind.

Tierra Walker died after she couldn’t get an abortion. Her family is suing Ken Paxton
The case, filed Tuesday, argues that Texas’ near-total abortion ban violates the state and U.S. Constitutions, which “prohibit state actors from killing their citizens.”

I let myself feel my frustrations with the world then I look for its beauty to help me feel better. Here are a few of my favorite recent photos.

As a young adult, it’s exhausting to have to keep experiencing “the real world”

It’s exhausting to have to reconcile the way I want the world to be vs how it is.

I’m tired of complaining about how it is and wishing for better.

An educator in Scotland asked me if I would be willing to create a short video about my path and career that they could play at career day at their school. I figured since I was making it anyway I would share it here as well! 🧪 🪨

Can you #FindThatLizard?!

While I was looking for lizards in New Mexico, I came across this baby mystery lizard. Let's identify the species.

What is the first thing you notice about this lil lizard?

For me, it was the distinct black-and-white banding on its tail. ⚫️⚪️⚫️⚪️⚫️⚪️

After spending this entire week hiking, I’m even more bewildered about how folks can see the world’s beauty and then want to put a parking lot on it. Like why can’t the standard be, make money while not destroying the environment???

Went through a whole pandemic and yet people still don’t cover their nose/mouth when they expel bodily fluids 🤮

This may be petty but I don’t say “bless you” to people who don’t cover their mouths when they sneeze. As a matter of fact they get side eye instead.

Can you #FindThatLizard?!

Yarrow's spiny lizard, Sceloporus jarrovii, is close to my heart as it inspired my love for lizards. They have a lot of spunk! If they see you coming, they'll run just far enough to be out of reach. Then they'll turn around and watch you all while giving a mean side-eye.

I was trying to photograph this male Yarrow's spiny lizard when he decided to run up on me! I think it's so interesting how some individuals are more bold and others shy.

Happy birthday to me!!

These last two years have been tough. At 30 I lost my job. At 31 bank account was in the negatives, had to move back home, and take a job I really didn’t want that barely kept my head above water.

On this trip I was forced to spend $951 on a lens I didn’t want otherwise I’d be restricted in my zoom capabilities and I’ve been bitching about it to anyone who would listen. I’m reviewing the shots I got today and the lens shut me up.**
