Richard Denniss sounds compelling when he says:

ABC News lied when it reported that the global economy is on the brink of recession.
It’s principal graphic was the International Monetary Fund’s ‘severe scenario’ which clearly showed growth forecasts at 2% this year and 2.2% next year. Those are NOT recessions.

New Zealand’s GDP growth of 1.3% last year was weak. But the Kiwi media saw no cause for anxiety.
