Figured I'd just explain the nitty gritty of what NC State did wrong on this play as they were trying to take an intentional safety to close out a win over Vanderbilt. I now the Xs and Os are a little thick for some of you, so I am here to answer questions if you have them

Look man you aren't getting that in the NFL

I hate to say a guy's career is functionally over after a single play, but CJ Bailey man idk. That's like 15 Orlovskies

God is telling you something, Clemson
I don't really know how to say this, but I take your college football team less seriously if you had a game in a weather delay. If there was lightning in your area, that reflects poorly on your program

there have been many small Clemson downfalls, but losing to UNC as they head West to Cal *and* then face Miami might be it
Will a loss hurt Clemson or UNC more?

I didn't think this shot of the tailgate scene outside Arkansas' stadium today was real but I verified it with a local

This is Hunter Yurachek's fault but it is hard to escape the impression that the vibes here were awful from the opening press conference and will at no point turn
@alexkirshner.com justified
has any coach ever been as immediately DOA as Ryan Silverfield at Arkansas

I think GameDay's actual "problem" these days isn't the rightward political bent (look around the CFB media industry right now tbh) but the sense that the desk is always trying to carry water for something without just saying it. Senate bill, Lane Kiffin's career choices, Playoff stuff, etc
Pat McAfee: "We certainly appreciate the hell out of the American military. And if you're not the United States of America and you hear that sound, your ass better run."

Rece Davis: "That's the one thing the two sides here can agree on, for sure."

My first football memory is walking around the track here at halftime of some Pitt game in either 1999 or 2000. We could go back! (We can't because there's no longer room, and Pitt blew it by prioritizing a new basketball arena, not understanding which way the economic winds were blowing)

Agreed, I was right. This was a tie game! Then it ended, as far as I know
It’s early but it looks like @alexkirshner.com is right about Wake being annoying for Miami

Legit Anxiety Bowl here. Total disaster for either team. Clemson slightly more so

Recalled an absurd Boone Pickens story in prep for this episode: He committed hundreds of millions to OKST but they invested much of it in his fund, which tanked in 2008. So he was like "here's another $63 million in cash so you can finish the stadium project w/ my name on it"
Oklahoma State, you are our Team of the Week

New @splitzoneduo.com Tasting Menu is out now. We preview dozens of games because we are a college football show but also we talk about it when the sport is uncomfortable because that's part of the job. This was very sharp by Richard

I also wanna shout out my colleagues on this one
So much work by my colleagues went into this. (To be clear I did absolutely none of that work, but saying "so much work by my colleagues went into this" is an old trick that makes people think you must have been really helpful. Keep that one in mind for when you need it)
