Idc I'm not putting something in my house that's hideous and off-putting to try to convey I'm superior, or "deep."

Bob Ross, with his happy trees, is superior to all that self-stroking crap.

AND i could go into a whole thing in the art community where artists think if a piece isn't dark, ugly, uncomfortable, criticism of society, then it's not worthy to be called art

I think WAY too many people believe happiness is a shallow, one-dimensional emotion meant for the oblivious and stupid

People think dwelling in the darkness makes one more intellectual or thoughtful somehow, and i side-eye these purveyors of misery.

They're missing half the human experience+

Re toxic positivity

I think it's used too liberally. It's meant to describe someone who sees, hears, speaks no evil, and who can acknowledge negative feelings or address negative events.

It's not for people who try to focus on the positive, while acknowledging the crappy things in life

Optimism is a choice I make in defiance of the dying of the light.

...good question... Lol

I don't know how to not go 100% at work. Bc that would involve not doing everything...which would get me in trouble....

I recently learned from a friend I consider above avg in political awareness that she didn't know not voting for an unopposed candidate or a candidate she didn't agree with but voting the rest of the ballot was even an option. It made me wonder how many folks don't know this. Bring back civics!
I do strongly endorse VOTING, however. It's important though it's not the only thing you can do to effect change.

Remember, if there's a race where you've decided not to vote for either candidate, that doesn't mean stay home. Leave that line blank, learn about the other races and vote in those.

Some people believe they are good people, because they didn't do/say EVERY terrible thing they wanted to.

That's it. That's why they think they're good people.

Sometimes, this is the only way to get things done.
Genuinely I don't know that it comes across to people who haven't been here to watch how almost unbelievable this was, just people taking something that looked impossible and dragging it kicking and screaming all the way to inevitability.

Puppy is doing well. Adorable, playful, cute

The other day, i was letting my older dog outside, waiting in the doorway, and heard a long, mournful howl. I'd never heard it before.

Daughter said he does it whenever he feels left out

Child abuse is taken much more seriously these days. In the 80s and 90s, even with all the signs, and a child asking to talk about how unhappy they are at home, no one would listen, and no one wanted to get involved.
Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

We had computer lab with those ancient blocky desktop computers. All it had was Oregon Trail.

I always died of dysentery within 10 minutes.
Americans who went to school in the 90s: did you play Oregon Trail? Did EVERYONE play Oregon Trail? I keep seeing it come up and wonder if it was truly that prevalent

Wisconsin is one of two states I've lived in whose insularity leads to the kind of evolutionary cultural craziness you find in animals in the Galapagos or language in isolated settlements.

Let's bring that back.

Was hanging around the front of my house. I blast out the front door in a fury:
HI WHY ARE YOU HANGING AROUND THE FRONT OF MY HOUSE?

turned out to be some door-to-door roofer guy canvasing the neighborhood, but I'm sure I threw him off with my largest FCKOFF vibes.

Everything feel so off and weird

Today is such a weird day. I got about 5 billion calls, and a bunch were the same people calling me over and over and ov- Only for that call to not even be for me anyway. Plzquitharrassingktnx.

Then there was a tornado siren that went off- it's clear blue skies...

Then I get word an unknown dude+
