Ted Chiang's fav writing quote is from her essay 'Write till you drop'

"There is something you find interesting, for a reason hard to explain. It is hard to explain because you have never read it on any page; there you begin. You were made and set here to give voice to this, your own astonishment."
I will just add that when I wrote about being Annie Dillard's student, I tried to rescue her class from being lost, as it were. Such as I could. I've taught a lot of what she taught me over the years and most of it has held up.
I wrote about being Annie Dillard's student at Wesleyan in the spring of my last year in college for Elizabeth Benedict's Mentors and Monsters anthology, and The Morning News: themorningnews.org/annie-dillar...

I was worried if my comic is perhaps too self indulgent, but then I remembered the words of Björk and now I need to make it even more self indulgent 🥰

My favorite adaptation of the Narnia books. Pagan and wild with the Sunday School preaching thankfully sanded down.

La Mulata de Córdoba was a legendary woman accused of witchcraft in colonial Veracruz. One famous tale says she drew a ship on her prison wall, stepped aboard, and vanished. When the authorities returned, only the drawing remained. #WyrdWednesday

As a footnote, if a mechanism exists to deprive ANY group of civil rights—no matter how reviled they are, and by however many—then that mechanism WILL eventually be weaponized against YOU.

You do not have to be trans or pro-trans to be against deprivation of anyone's rights.

(PS: I am pro-trans.)
Trans rights is inherently a bodily autonomy issue. Just like abortion rights is. We can't have gender equity or reproductive freedom without trans rights. Full stop.

You can yell at me and make up shit that you claim I've said if it makes you feel better. I don't care. I'm right. And you know it.

The legend of La Planchada haunts Mexican hospitals. She is often described as an impeccably dressed nurse who appears at night to tend patients, sometimes after neglectful staff have failed them. The unsettling part is learning the helpful nurse died long ago. #WyrdWednesday

Another great episode with the female lead being brilliant in both stories. At under 30 minutes each, they manage to stand head and shoulders above 'Tales of the Unexpected' #TheFilmCrowd
