Big changes coming to Arizona this weekend!

Say goodbye to the triple digits and hello to cooler air, wind and rain.

We're tracking a fall storm moving in from the west, which will tap into moisture from Hurricane Rachel.

Parts of the Valley could see 0.50-1" of rain.

It's not often you get "all-day" rain in the Valley.

But with tropical moisture streaming in, it was one of those rare "cool" and rainy days in Phoenix.

More rain possible on Tuesday as our Flood Watch remains in effect.

Final numbers from Wednesday's epic monsoon rainfall in the Phoenix metro area.

Not record-breaking in the Valley, but still some really heavy downpours especially in the higher terrain favored areas north and east of Phoenix.

Get ready for a wet Wednesday!

Thunderstorms, heavy downpours and flooding could impact the Valley from sunrise to sunset.

Rainfall rates of 1-2" an hour are expected with some of the stronger storms.

Don't attempt to cross any flooded roadways.

The big picture: it's not just daytime highs, it's the increasingly warmer overnight lows impacting our overall averages.

Phoenix hit 115 degrees Tuesday afternoon, breaking the record for this day of 113 degrees set in 2011.

It also marked the 8th day this year at 115 or hotter. That's the fourth most on record.
The average number of days per year this hot is 2.

Last night's Valley dust storm was a Category 2 on the new PHX-Dust scale.

A peak dust concentration of 2714 µg/m3 was measured in Buckeye and Category 2 concentrations were also observed in the East Valley, specifically at the sensor near the Mesa-Gateway Airport.

The Valley is now included in a Severe Thunderstorm Watch tonight.

Monson storms could bring damaging wind gusts over 60 mph and areas of blowing dust.

Highest risk will be after 8 p.m. tonight.

Record heat in the Valley!

Phoenix only dropped to 92 degrees this morning, breaking the daily record warm low of 90 degrees set in 2020.

This also marks day 22 this year with lows in the 90s. That's the fifth most on record.

Many more are on the way before this summer ends.
